About Solomun
Biography
Solomun, whose real name is Mladen Solomun, was born on December 27, 1975, in Travnik, in the former Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina). He later moved with his family to Hamburg, Germany, where he grew up. Before pursuing music, Solomun worked in the construction industry with his father and even co-founded a small film production company with friends. It wasn’t until he was 23 years old that he started producing music, influenced by club tapes that his cousin brought back from nightclubs.
Musical Career
In 2005, Solomun co-founded the Diynamic music label with his partner Adriano Trolio, under the motto “Do It Yourself”. His first EP, Solomun EP, was released in 2006, followed by his debut album, Dance Baby, in 2009.
His breakthrough came in 2011, when his remix of “Around” by Noir & Haze was voted Remix of the Year by Resident Advisor. In 2012, he was named “DJ of the Year” by Mixmag and won the “Producer of the Year” award at the Ibiza DJ Awards. That same year, he also received the "Best International DJ" award at the Cool Awards in Brazil.
Solomun became a key figure in Ibiza's club scene, particularly with his “Solomun +1” residency at Pacha Ibiza, where he invites a guest DJ each night to perform with him. In 2018, he appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto Online as a resident DJ, and the music video for his track “Customer is King” was entirely set in the GTA universe.
