À propos de cet événement

David Ramirez is an Austin, Texas–based singer-songwriter whose quietly adventurous catalogue spans six full-length albums, three EPs, numerous collaborations, and the acclaimed supergroup project Glorietta. After years of balancing creativity with the pressure of what a record ‘should’ achieve, Ramirez stepped back from songwriting to regroup personally and reconnect with music on its own terms. In the wake of a major breakup, he chose to process privately rather than rush toward a predictable heartbreak album—waiting until he felt hopeful enough to write again.

That renewed spirit fuels his latest album, All the Not So Gentle Reminders, a 12-song, dreamlike collection that puts texture, mood, and musical movement at the center of the storytelling. With sweeping intros and outros, the record drifts through questions of memory, desire, and the strange way time can blur fact into feeling—whether the past is something to trust, or something to release. Opening track “Maybe It Was All a Dream” sets the tone as synths and drum machines bloom into organ swells and electric guitars, ending with a voice from home that gently pulls the listener back to waking life.

Written during a two-week retreat at Standard Deluxe in Waverly, Alabama, and recorded at Spectra Studios near Austin with engineer Charlie Kramsky, the album captures Ramirez at his most lush and exuberant. He co-produced with Christopher Boosahda and leaned on a close-knit circle of Texas musicians—Barbara Frigiere, Jeff Olson, James Westley Essary, and Christopher Boosahda—along with friends who add background vocals throughout. The result is a vibrant reaffirmation of why Ramirez started making songs in the first place: not to chase approval, but to follow the thrill of sound, story, and possibility. With All the Not So Gentle Reminders, he returns full-hearted—rooted, curious, and unmistakably himself.

‘An acclaimed singer-songwriter with a haunting, introspective catalogue of piercing songs on society, religion, and the darker shades of the heart.’ - Analogue
